1. Who We Are

2. Information We Collect

Account Information

When you register, we collect your email address and display name via Google Firebase Authentication. We do not store your password — authentication is managed by Firebase.

Conversation Data

Messages you exchange with Betterment AI Coach (text and voice transcripts) are stored in our secure database (Google Firebase Firestore) to provide session history, memory, and personalized coaching continuity. Voice audio is streamed in real time to OpenAI for processing; we do not store raw audio recordings.

Your conversations may include sensitive personal information. Please note that Betterment Christian Coach is not a healthcare provider or a HIPAA-covered entity, the Service is not intended to create or store medical records, and conversation data is not protected health information under HIPAA. Share only what you are comfortable storing, and please avoid sending highly sensitive details such as government-ID or financial-account numbers, or other people’s personal information.

Voice Usage Data

We track the duration and token usage of voice sessions to enforce fair-use limits and manage costs. This data is stored per user in our database and is used solely for usage-metering purposes.

Goals, Notes, and Reports

If you use goal tracking, coaching reports, or activity logging features, the content you enter is stored in your user profile in Firebase Firestore.

Device and Technical Data

We store a device identifier in your browser’s local storage to help with error reporting and session continuity. We may collect anonymized error logs to diagnose and fix technical issues.

3. How We Use Your Information

• To provide, maintain, and improve the Service.
• To personalize your coaching sessions using conversation history and memory.
• To enforce usage limits and prevent abuse.
• To diagnose technical errors and improve reliability.
• To communicate with you about your account or important changes to the Service.
• To comply with legal obligations.

We do not sell, rent, or share your personal data with third parties for marketing purposes.

4. Third-Party Service Providers

We use the following third-party services to operate the Service:

• Google Firebase — Authentication, database (Firestore), and hosting. Firebase processes data under Google’s Privacy and Security Terms.
• OpenAI — Real-time voice processing and AI text generation. Voice and text data sent to OpenAI is processed under OpenAI’s Privacy Policy. API usage data may be retained by OpenAI per their policies.

These providers act as data processors on our behalf and are contractually required to protect your information.

5. Data Storage and Security

Your data is stored on Google Firebase infrastructure with industry-standard encryption in transit (TLS) and at rest. Access to your data is controlled by Firebase security rules that restrict reads and writes to authenticated users accessing only their own records.

No system is perfectly secure. If you believe your account has been compromised, contact us immediately at privacy@bettermentchristiancoach.com.

6. Local Storage and Cookies

The Service stores certain preferences and session data in your browser’s local storage (not cookies) to improve performance and continuity. See our Cookie Policy for a complete list of what is stored and why.

7. Data Retention

We retain your account and conversation data for as long as your account is active or as needed to provide the Service. Voice session metering records are retained for a rolling window (typically 5 hours) to enforce usage limits, then pruned automatically.

8. Your Rights

Depending on your jurisdiction, you may have the right to:

• Access the personal data we hold about you.
• Correct inaccurate data.
• Request deletion of your data (“right to be forgotten”).

9. Children’s Privacy
